VISUAL ARTIST

Foto credit: Cristian Lazzari
Dr. Dominguez is a visual artist and an art educator currently living in Miami, Florida.
As a practicing artist, she has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in public and commercial galleries. Her art work (prints, mixed media, and photography) is displayed at public and private collections throughout the world. She has also curated a number of exhibitions for public art galleries and written essays for exhibition catalogues.

As an educator, she has taught photography and art courses at University of Miami, Barry University, Miami International University, Miami Dade College, and Florida Atlantic University; as well as education courses at Barry University. She is an alumni of San Alejandro art academy in Havana, Cuba; and New World School of the Arts, University of Miami, and Barry University in Florida, U.S. She has over ten years of experience teaching art in higher education and in the K-12 settings.

Dr. Dominguez believes that information in itself is not useful unless we also learn the tools to understand and apply it to any field of our interest. A strong believer in the power that community-based endeavors hold, Dr. Dominguez advocates for constantly challenging ourselves to develop new skills and insight with which we can influence our communities, from local to global, in positive ways. The arts are an essential piece to this process. Looking through, around, and into art enhances the human component of being who we are.

Dr. Dominguez has delivered lectures and workshops to art and education groups at  local and international levels, and has presented at Education and Research conferences with the topic of creativity and the identity of the artist-teacher.
